When the load is bigger, heavier or not allowed at the curb, our crew handles it, inside the house or out. Below are the rules as the city and county publish them, so you can choose with the facts in front of you.
Large Loads, Cleanouts and Heavy Items: We Take Over
Choose a hauler when:
- The load is large, mixed or tied to a permitted project.
- You are clearing a property after a move-out or eviction, which county pickup does not cover.
- The items are inside, upstairs or too heavy to carry to the curb.
- You want everything gone in one call, not on a scheduled pickup.
- You need yard waste removal beyond what a pile and a schedule allow.
Our crew does the carrying, so you never drag a mattress across the lawn. Our junk removal quote is free before work starts.
Construction Debris: Loaded and Hauled
The city does not pick up large amounts of construction and demolition debris, only small amounts of building debris from a homeowner’s upkeep. If repairs need a city permit or you hired a contractor, the homeowner or contractor must remove the debris. For permit questions, the city points residents to its Building Inspection Office.
That is where our construction debris removal fits. We load it and haul it, so a renovation does not end with a pile in the driveway.
What the City of Lakeland Collects for Free
City customers get four free yard waste or bulk junk collections per calendar year, up to 20 cubic yards each. The city collects:
- Used furniture, mattresses, box springs, bed frames, couches and chairs, placed curbside after you arrange the pickup.
- Refrigerators, air conditioners, water heaters, washers and dryers, collected by a special bulk truck. Doors on refrigerators and freezers must be removed.
- Bulk yard waste, meaning plant material too large to containerize or a pile larger than 6 feet by 4 feet. Items may not be longer than eight feet.
Rules can change, so confirm the details with the City of Lakeland before you schedule.
Outside City Limits, We Cover the County Too
City solid waste serves customers inside city limits. A gray garbage can and a black recycle can mean you are a Polk County customer, and the county rules differ.
Out in unincorporated Polk County, furniture and appliances go out on a monthly scheduled day. Construction debris, plus eviction and move-out cleanouts, are not part of that pickup. The county’s curbside program also leaves out whole trees, stumps, land clearing debris, tires, auto parts and household hazardous waste.
Polk County tells residents to use a commercial hauler for non-conforming or bulk waste. We are a local one. See our Polk County page for the towns we serve.
What 4 Aces Adds
We are a local, family-owned crew, and we respect the curbside rules. What we add is flexibility. We come to the room where the item sits and we load it. We also handle the loads a pickup program is not designed for, such as a renovation, a full garage or a property clearing after a tenant leaves.
Use the City, Then Call Us for the Rest
Using the city for a few free loads and calling us for the rest is a sensible way to split the work. Use the curb for what it handles, then call us for the cleanout that remains.

We work throughout Lakeland, Auburndale, Bartow and Winter Haven. Call or text for a free quote.
